All ShapeTex™ preforms comprise of reinforcement fibre, backing and stitching thread. The composites team at SHAPE have developed an automatable method of manufacturing fibre preforms using commingled reinforcement and thermoplastic fibres, unlocking new potential for mid-high volume production of composite components. SHAPE have gained access to a wide variety of high performance Carbon and Aramid fibres as well as industrial grades of Carbon and Glass fibres.
A range of commingled fibres have been used to produce ShapeTex™ preforms and further material combinations are available upon request. Development of natural fibre processing is ongoing and tow counts ranging from 3k up to 100k are routinely aligned using ShapeTex™.

All of the reinforcement fibres and matrix materials above have unique characteristics in terms of their performance, cost, processing temperatures and suitability to each potential application.
To make ShapeTex™ the primary manufacturing route for carbon fibre preforms across all industry sectors. This will be achieved by meeting and exceeding our customer’s performance, cost and waste targets.
